Bella Italia. (working title)

This project is a Doku Musical Film, a musical-culinary journey to a beautiful country with extraordinary people 12-part 55-minute documentary series.

The Idea :

The husband-and-wife duo, Italian-Berlin artists Alessandro & Hanna Rinella, a professional opera singer with a pop background and a jazz singer by training, embark on a fascinating journey to the beautiful country to meet the most significant Italian artists and musicians. They aim to create a new version of the most recent classics and hits of great Italian music, making it accessible to a broad audience by adding some parts of the lyrics in English. In addition, each song will be connected to the places, traditions, and culinary specialties of the cities visited.

The Mentor
Maestro Beppe Vessicchio

Along the way, the pair will visit twelve stations, meeting legends such as Angelo Branduardi, Paolo Conte, and Gino Paoli and young superstars such as Mahmood and Marco Mengoni (recent ESC participant). Beppe Vessicchio, one of Italy's greatest composers and producers ( Andrea Bocelli, Zucchero, just a few), will oversee the project and share his experience, offering a perspective on the future of the Italian music scene. Along with discovering exciting facts about the musicians, places visited, regional delicacies, and the country's beauty, the journey will culminate in a grand concert in the city of San Remo.  The final result of this extraordinary adventure will be an album representing the twelve stations of the journey. Join Alessandro, Hanna, and all the wonderful people of Italy to immerse yourself in the magic of a beautiful country, its music, and its amazing people.

They also prepare for an encounter with a distant and opposite world, the intellectual one, thanks to the fascinating medieval melodies of Angelo Branduardi, creating an unlikely and unique combination. 5."Pavia: From Theodoric's Tomb to Ron's Music" - Through a journey between history and music, Alexander and Hanna uncover the mysteries of Theodoric's tomb in Pavia and meet singer-songwriter Ron to explore his exciting compositions. 6."Venice: A Musical Adventure as Street Performers with Vinicio Capossela and Mamooh" - Alessandro and Hanna immerse themselves in the magic of Venice, living an extraordinary experience as street performers together with Vinicio Capossela and Mamooh along the canals and "Calle," in a unique combination of music and evocative atmosphere. 7."Bologna: A Visit to Lucio's House" - Alessandro and Hanna visit Lucio Dalla's home and creative spaces in Bologna, discovering his unique story and his contribution to Italian music through meetings and touching stories with his team. 8."Florence: From the Renaissance to Chianti" - In Florence, Alexander and Hanna explore the legacy of the Renaissance, meeting several Florentine singer-songwriters, and then heading to the vineyards of Greve in Chianti amidst a passion for music and a taste for wine.Meeting Stefano Bollani. 9."Rieti: On the trail of Lucio Battisti's legend" - Alessandro and Hanna follow the trail of Lucio Battisti in Rieti, meeting friends and relatives who unravel legends about the singer-songwriter's possible connections with the controversial socio-cultural extremism of the time, and reinterpreting some of his hits with Marco Mengoni. 10."Rome's Frenetic Dolce Vita" - Through the exciting notes of Antonello Venditti and Francesco De Gregori, Alessandro and Hanna recounts Rome's frenetic sweet life, exploring its beauty and contradictions and introducing secret places of hidden Rome and its traditions not available to all. 11."Naples: Music Makes Tomatoes Grow" - Alessandro and Hanna discover the unique link between music and life in Naples. With Maestro Beppe Vessicchio, they explore Neapolitan musical traditions and the fascinating theory that the piece affects the flavor and growth of tomatoes, an immersion into the heart of Naples, where music becomes an integral part of daily life. 12."Cagliari: The Drama of Fabrizio De André" - Alessandro and Hanna become involved in a now forgotten but still dramatic tale: the kidnapping of Fabrizio De André and his wife by Anonima Sarda in the very land he loved most, Sardinia. They will discover intriguing backstories and stories through his music and poetry until their release. 12.b" Palermo: Mystical Transcendence and Social Denunciation with Franco Battiato" - Alessandro and Hanna immerse themselves in the vibrant city of Palermo, where Franco Battiato's music and poetry come to life.
